The Car Thing can be plugged into a USB outlet (doesnt have to be the included car USB adapter) but it has to have enough power. Many new vehicles come with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, which similarly allow drivers to control phone apps remotely through a car's infotainment screen. It's basically like playing music through a phone's Spotify app but using a dedicated hands-free interface instead. Car Thing uses a Premium subscription to bring you on-demand and ad-free music listening. Its specifically designed for cars, and quickly attaches with their universal mount. One of the best parts is that initially gave this thing away for free to their US customers (its no longer free, sadly). There are also four buttons on top that allow for easy access to four presets.
